Washi paper masking tape. I'm looking for ways to use it but sometimes it feels too pretty to adhere to anything.

I'm working on a series of drawings of women I feel oddly connected to (though I admit, distantly). First up is Kiki Smith - an odd choice since she's so eccentric. The connection? Our affinity for all things colorless - in other words, black. I think about a friend's birthday video from when I was 7(?) wherein all of the girls present were asked their favorite color. While pink and purple were obvious favorites among the partygoers, I appeared to be the only little lady who confidently cited a genuine preference to the color black. Yes, goth is weird. But goth at 7? Weirder.

Did I mention there was also breakfast to be had? I adore La Note to the point where I'd willingly subject myself to a 40 minute wait for breakfast. I'm not a morning person but for La Note, anything.

Looking for inspiration...

I feel like I've been spinning my wheels trying to find vintage or sustainable fabric, though in reality I probably haven't exhausted all of my resources. It just feels like I have. My new tactic (at M's suggestion) is to collect/purchase fabric that I come across and amass enough swatches  to eventually create something - whatever that may be. Last week, I received these lovely purchases in the mail from Sri Threads (two down, a lot more to go):
